For thirty-two years we have done one thing: design and build a small number of custom residences each year, slowly, with the same in-house millwrights, stone artisans and metalworkers who will draw, fabricate and finish your home from the first sketch to the day we hand you the keys.
Our work is structural, not stylistic. It begins with how you actually live — your morning light, your kitchen on a Tuesday, the way a guest walks from the mudroom — and resolves into a residence built once, and built to last. Bedford, New York
A 9,400-square-foot primary residence on a 14-acre estate site, with a dedicated joinery wing, slate-roofed library and a passive-house-certified building envelope. Recipient of the 2023 AIA Honor Award for Residential Architecture.
Greenwich, Connecticut
A 1908 shingle-style residence re-imagined for a family of five, retaining the original gambrel roofline while opening the rear of the home to a south-facing terrace. In-house fabrication of every door, mantel and stair.
Rhinebeck, New York
A working farm residence with a 6,200-square-foot main house, detached carriage barn and a certified passive building envelope. Solar-ready roof, geothermal ground loop, and in-house blackened-steel windows fabricated in our Cold Spring shop.
Princeton, New Jersey
An 11,800-square-foot primary residence on a preserved 22-acre site, including a guest wing, indoor pool pavilion, and a 1,400-square-foot climate-controlled joinery room finished in fumed white oak. Our largest single commission in 2021.
The differences below are structural, not marketing. They are decisions we made thirty-two years ago and have not revised.
Millwork, stone, and architectural metal are produced in our 12,000-square-foot climate-controlled joinery shop in Cold Spring, NY. Every door, mantel, stair newel, window surround, and range hood on a Jamison House project is fabricated by one of our 41 tradespeople — including nine master carpenters, three certified stone artisans, and two licensed architects. We do not subcontract the details that define the home.
The architect who draws your home is the builder who builds it. From the first site visit to the final walkthrough, your project is led by a single principal — never handed off to a project manager. Most of our principals have been with the firm for over a decade. Average tenure across our master trade staff is seventeen years.
Over the last decade, ninety-eight percent of our project budgets have been delivered within four percent of the contracted figure. We do not run change-order businesses. The number we agree to at contract is the number you pay, plus the documented scope of any client-initiated revisions — written, priced, and approved in advance.
